Beverley Birch is author of Rift, a mystery thriller set in Africa – longlisted for the Carnegie Medal, shortlisted for two international awards and the Southern Schools Book Award. Writer of over 50 books, many nominated for awards, her work ranges over novels, picture books, biographies, retellings – including Shakespeare’s plays – and collaborations with photographer Nick Birch.
Novels include The Keeper of the Gate, a time-travel story set in Africa, a ghost story, Sea Hawk Sea Moon and The Night of the Fire Lilies, set against the background of the Calabrian Mafia. Most recently she’s written picture books – Turtle’s Party in the Clouds, Greedy Anansi’s Three Cunning Plans, Frankenstein, Two Animal Tales from Africa.
Beverley visits schools and festivals to talk about books and writing, and each year during Shakespeare Week she offers Shakespeare-themed events and workshops for schools.
