Sam Osman was born in London to an English mother and a Sudanese father. She worked for the BBC for many years, before writing her first book Quicksilver, which was nominated for the Waterstone’s Prize and the Branford Boase Award and shortlisted for the Lincolnshire Young People’s Book Award. The sequel, Serpent’s Gold was published in July 2011 and the film rights for the series have been optioned by Gold Circle films in LA.
Her most recent book, Chasing the Dark published by Chicken house, was shortlisted for the Bolton, Hampshire, Wirral and NE Book Awards and won the Stockport Mad About Books Award 2014.
