If you’re involved in a school, library or community centres, here are some exciting ways that we can bring our creative and mentoring expertise into your space. Please contact us to start the discussion.

One or Two-day Festivals of Creative Writing and Illustrating

For the past seven years, CWISL has been running the very successful ShoutSouth! And ShoutWest! festivals. As a result of this experience, CWISL can now run one- or two-day festivals of stories in your school. All you need to do is provide space, up to 60 children, teaching assistants and access to paper and pens. We will do the rest. During the festival, CWISL will provide:

  • Three authors and one illustrator present at all times to mentor students.
  • A programme of workshops and presentations, including:

The Spark – inspiration

Spot the Plot – plotting

Character Passport – illustration and characterisation

Mad Moody and Murky – setting and atmosphere

  • A two-day programme would also include plenary sessions in drama and movement, and in illustration.
  • The fee for a one-day programme is £750
  • The fee for a two-day programme is £1400

Bespoke Event Planning

CWISL can work with you to tailor events to your particular requirements. For instance:

  • Museums – CWISL can devise an event in which children are guided to respond creatively to museum collections, either through writing or illustrating, or both.
  • Bookshops – CWISL can welcome children into your space for a half or full day with a combination of author talks, writing and illustrating workshops, and writing surgeries, in which children are invited to bring in their stories and have a 15-minute meeting with an author to discuss their work.
  • Festivals – if you are running a festival and want to provide a panel of speakers, for instance on mystery or YA fiction, or on particular themes like bullying or diversity in children’s fiction, CWISL can provide or suggest speakers, or arrange a panel of speakers.

If you have an idea for a collaboration, or would like to talk to CWISL about the many possibilities, please contact us.
