CWIZZes

Test your knowledge of both contemporary and classic books! We run annual literary quizzes for schools in south and west London and in Surrey, aimed at pupils in Years 5-8.

There are three events in the autumn each year. Prizes include free author visits for schools and books for individuals.

This year the dates are:

Stepping Into Stories

CWISL are an integral part of the Stepping Into Stories Kids’ Lit Festival held in Herne Hill, South London, near the start of every year.

The festival will run from Tuesday 4th February to Sunday 9th February 2025.

The lead authors this year are Robin Stevens and Joseph Coelho.

Hillingdon Libraries World Book Day Festival

We’re looking forward to hosting our third World Book Day Festival for Hillingdon Libraries from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th February 2025.

Thursday, 27th February: Loretta Schauer

Sessions for KS2 

Loretta is an author and illustrator of more than 25 books for children. Her sessions will feature her novel The Legend of Ghastly Jack Crowheart, where she takes a closer look at historical characters using drawing, drama, and creative writing skills. Stand and deliver!

 

Friday, 28th February: Lucy Reynolds

Sessions for Reception & KS1 

Lucy is an acclaimed children’s author with a deep-rooted love for poetry and conservation. Both events will bring to life her much-loved book, We Are Family, a full-filled and empathetic celebration of the different ways children grow up in the world.

 

Monday 3rd March: Jeffrey Boakye

Virtual session only: KS3

Jeffrey is a critically acclaimed author and broadcaster and returns to Hillingdon after his highly successful event for us in 2024. This session uses his book What is Masculinity? Why does it matter? And Oher Big Questions as a jumping-off point to explore themes of identity and gender.
